Mechanical Engineer

Job Responsibilities:
Packaging engineering contract position requiring Packaging Engineering degree or degree in similar discipline (Material Science). Working knowledge of FDA and International packaging regulations and applicable packaging test standards and methods. Experience within an FDA regulated industry preferred. Candidate needs to have working knowledge of Auto CAD ProE and MS Office. MAIN JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for technical aspects of packaging from concept development through commercialization. Evaluate various material and design options for device packaging to meet overall product life cycle needs: maintenance of product sterility, environmental, sterilization, distribution and storage requirements. Lead the development and evaluation of prototypes, facilitates appropriate bench top testing and perform overall analyses of design options. Direct vendor design and development of new packaging and monitor progress to ensure timely implementation of packaging components. Facilitate performance and sterile integrity testing of packaging systems, sterilization compatibility assessments and testing of packaging systems, as well as environmental and aging testing of package systems to ensure compliance with Federal, US and International safety and quality standards. Develop package testing protocols, test acceptance criteria, and analyzes results. Create packaging component specifications and drawings for procurement and inspection of packaging components. Facilitate packaging design reviews with cross-functional teams. Research, develop and validate packaging process equipment to support manufacturing. Create all packaging related manufacturing documentation to support the manufacturing of products. Create packaging testing fixtures needed for manufacturing and testing of products. Create packaging assembly drawings and train manufacturing operators on proper packaging assembly.
