MD-Senior Test Engineer

Job Responsibilities:
* Location: Columbia, MD * * Type: 6 Month Contract * * Job Description: The responsibilities of this position include testing of communications systems during various stages of development in a team environment. The test engineer will support system and software test activities for internal team members (integration and regression tests) and for external customers (qualification and acceptance tests). The successful candidate will have the proven ability to write system test plans and procedures to verify compliance of communications products to functional and performance requirements. Must be able to work with software and systems engineers to develop plans for testing incremental product builds, review test procedures, and provide requirements traceability. Must be able to independently setup and execute tests to support software and systems development, capture test metrics, and report results. Must develop test software and tools required to execute tests. Must analyze defects discovered during tests to determine failure scenarios and document issues in the defect tracking tool. Must participate in team meetings to discuss test issues and provide status regarding test preparations and results. Must be able to direct a small test team to coordinate test activities for multiple projects. Must have strong communication skills. Ability to provide product training to customers and travel (~10%) to support test and training activities in the field a plus. * * Required Skills: Required Skills/knowledge Must have a BS degree in a technical field related to test engineering. Minimum 1-5 years experience testing voice or data communications systems. Experience using PCs and installing software applications is required. Must have working knowledge of Windows NT, 2000, and XP operating systems. Solid written and verbal communication skills are required. Ability to use tools such as Microsoft Word and Excel to clearly convey information to others is required. Experience using problem report status tracking tools (e.g. Rational ClearQuest) is a plus. Must be able to work as part of a development team and act in lead role for test activities. Applicant must be capable of obtaining a US Security Clearance. Desired Skills Experience testing software and telcom equipment (analog and digital interfaces) for intercom, phone, and radio communications is preferred. Experience testing voice switching systems and VoIP is a plus. Experience using analog and digital audio test equipment preferred. Experience leading a test team is a plus. *
