Manufacturing Engineer
- Job Responsibilities:
Need candidates that are available to start ASAP! *Responsible for providing Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) support for Endovascular development projects. Ensures adequate manufacturing input and support throughout the Product Development Process (PDP). Develops robust and economically feasible manufacturing processes. Identifies and implements process improvements. Provides day-to-day technical support for Prototype/Pilot Manufacturing Operations. Reviews product designs and manufacturing processes for the purpose of improving quality, reducing cycle time and controlling costs. Actively participates in product development teams to represent Operations group. Recommends design modification and process changes where advisable to conform to production capabilities/limitations and minimize cost. Provides technical support in transfer of manufacturing lines to other Medtronic facilities. Assists in production scale-up of new products and solving related production issues. Assists in project planning and execution. Oversees the design and implementation of all special production machinery (jigs, tools, fixtures, machines, and handling equipment) to maintain manufacturing operations at competitive levels. Identifies opportunities for fixturing, automation versus manual operation. Reviews process yields and tracks defects with the Quality Department against cost of quality targets. Develops strategy to generate Design of Experiments (DOE), Process Qualification, and Validation Protocols/Reports, Manufacturing Instructions. BS in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing or related engineering discipline with manufacturing experience) with 1 to 3 years relevant experience. Must have practical experience, solid understanding of mechanical principles, testing and manufacturing processes. Experience in project management. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently. Ability to identify and resolve issue without direct supervision. Proficient in common computer skills such as Word and Excel. Working knowledge of statistical tools such as DOE, SPC, Hypothesis Testing and Process Capability Studies. Experience in Medical Device Manufacturing. Experience with machine design and metal fabrication. Experience and/or Certification in Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma
