NAS Development Engineer
- Job Responsibilities:
We are seeking a talented, motivated and accomplished person to design and develop NAS storage solutions and devices for SOHO/SMB environment.
Responsibilities
Leads the development of NAS storage solutions for Consumer networks and Small Office and Home Office environments.
Identifies and defines the performance characteristics and attributes that will allow Imation to offer differentiated, value-added products in this segment.
Coordinate with product marketing team to specify of product features and functions
Selection of HW and SW platforms
Selection of external technology provider and manufacturer
Works with ODMs, external hardware/ software developers and leads and oversees their efforts
Leads the development of appropriate software, firmware and/or hardware to enable identified features
Develops the information architecture and layout, develops the process and information flow system
Leads the development of prototypes to evaluate basic functionality and usability
Project engineering duties include managing multiple tasks and processes of moderate to advanced scope, including:
- Obtaining and verifying the project definition, scope and timeline
- Verifying the product specification for completeness
- Evaluating design concepts and technologies for feasibility
- Validating designs through product prototyping and testing
- Preparing reports and presenting the project status at project readiness reviews
- Assuring the protection and processing of intellectual property and patents
Keeps abreast of industry developments and applies knowledge of customer needs toward new markets for Imation products
Qualifications
Skills
Requires a bachelors degree in relevant field, such as Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
Requires experience of 5+ years in open system storage server design and development
Experience in designing and developing solutions for home network and storage applications is highly desirable
Advanced knowledge of NAS technology is required. Experience with NetApp, Isilon or equivalent required
Extensive file system knowledge including XFS, NFS, NTFS, HFS, and shared file systems
Network protocols including SMB/CIFS, HTTP, FTP, uPnP, Bonjour, iSCSI
Knowledge of operating systems such as Windows, OS and Linux is required
Storage server chipsets using both x86 and ARM processors
Knowledge in networking interfaces 10baseT , 100baseT and 1000baseT
Networked/ Shared storage management experience
Host-Client configuration and management experience
RAID storage and application experience
Knowledge of DLNA, uPnP and iTune protocols and requirements
Snapshot and remote data backup experience
Storage, RAID, and network driver/BIOS integration and development
Experience with managing in-field FW upgrades and event notification systems
Education
Bachelors Degree - Required (Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a Related Field)
Experience
5-10 Years - Required (Open System Storage Server Design and Development )
