Electrical Engineer for a Controls & Instrumentation Engineering Department

 

Must-Have Skills:

  • PID experience
  • Closed Loop Control Systems experience
  • Experience in Control of Temperature and Atmosphere

 

Essential Functions:

Develop, design, implement and commission control and data acquisition systems for aerodynamic ground test facilities and equipment such as turbine test cells and wind tunnels.

 

Responsibilities:

The fundamental responsibility of this position is to lead the design of closed-loop control systems and control strategies for mechanisms and processes. You will also:

  • Evaluate customer requirements and develop solutions to meet project needs
  • Specify and size control devices and instruments
  • Estimate cost and schedule
  • Plan, coordinate and supervise work of supporting engineers and designers
  • Communicate with Project Managers and C&I Manager concerning progress and problems
  • Assist in development of engineering proposals including scope, budget, and schedule
  • Support procurement, assembly, installation and commissioning
  • Deliver quality service on schedule and within budget in a team environment

  

Education/Skills/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering or applicable degree. An advanced degree is desirable.
  • 5+ years experience with design and implementation of complex real time control systems
  • Experience with control system simulation software such as Simulink
  • Successful candidates must have a broad background in control theory, networks, instrumentation and electrical hardware with desired expertise in the following areas:
    • Data acquisition
    • Process control and instrumentation design
    • Electrical-mechanical valve control design
    • Precision pressure and temperature control loops
    • Electrical control system wiring drawings
    • System integration of complex control loops
    • Writing instrument and valve and controls specification
  • Aerodynamic ground test facility or equipment experience a plus
  • Demonstrated technical leadership and project leadership skills
  • Excellent written & oral communications skills, demonstrated initiative, and attention to completeness, accuracy, and detail
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and to interface productively with peer teams and departments
  • Travel approximately 15 percent required
